The Island President

The Island President is a 2011 documentary film about the efforts of Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed to tackle climate change. The film is produced by Actual Films, an Oscar- and Emmy-winning American documentary film company based in San Francisco, and is directed by Jon Shenk.[1][2][3] The film premiered in Toronto in September 2011[4] and is expected to appear at festivals throughout the rest of the year.[5]

The film was funded by groups such as the Ford Foundation, the American Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the MacArthur Foundation, the Atlantic Foundation and the Sundance Institute.[6]
